U.S. Seeks Detention of FTX's Sam Bankman-Fried Pending Trial: Reuters
Months ahead of the scheduled trial, federal prosecutors have urged a federal judge to incarcerate Sam Bankman-Fried. This request follows the recent allegation from the U.S. Department of Justice, accusing the former FTX CEO of disclosing the private diary of a former colleague, Caroline Ellison, to the media.

Reuters reported that Federal prosecutors in New York have requested that Sam Bankman-Fried be detained before his October trial concerning the FTX cryptocurrency exchange's collapse. During a hearing in Manhattan federal court, prosecutor Danielle Sassoon asserted that no set of release conditions could guarantee the safety of the community.
This request follows Bankman-Fried's action of providing a New York Times reporter with personal writings from Caroline Ellison, who was in charge of his crypto hedge fund Alameda Research and is expected to testify against him. Prosecutors consider this to be a form of witness tampering.
During the court proceedings on Wednesday, prosecutor Sassoon accused Sam Bankman-Fried, who is currently under house arrest, of attempting to intimidate Caroline Ellison, and making numerous calls to the New York Times reporter who covered the story for extended durations. This information was reported by Inner City Press.
Bankman-Fried's counsel, in a letter filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York over the weekend, agreed that he would refrain from discussing the case publicly. However, they asserted that this restriction should apply to all parties and witnesses involved, including FTX, Alameda Research, and current FTX CEO John Ray.
