The Block reported that former SEC Chief, John Reed Stark, suggests that the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) is likely to file a criminal indictment related to Binance, or may have already done so under seal. In a tweet, the 19-year SEC veteran and former SEC Office of Internet Enforcement chief highlighted various indicators pointing towards such an indictment.
Reed also expressed that the complaints from the CFTC and SEC resemble criminal indictments, containing allegations of fraud, deception, obstruction of justice, and money laundering.

Based on his experience and analysis of the CFTC and SEC complaints against Binance, John Reed Stark believes that the US Department of Justice (DOJ) will file, or may have already filed under seal, a criminal indictment related to Binance. The complaints include allegations of fraud, deception, obstruction of justice, and money laundering, with evidence suggesting that Binance, its CEO Changpeng Zhao, and former chief compliance officer Samuel Lim were involved in aiding and abetting violations.
The SEC complaint also accuses Binance of co-mingling customer funds and engaging in market manipulation. Stark believes that the DOJ's involvement will likely focus on the money laundering aspect of the case, and that the cooperation between the SEC, CFTC, and potential informants/whistleblowers suggests that criminal charges related to Binance are imminent.
