A recent The Block report states that this collaboration aims to seamlessly bridge the gap between traditional DNS and blockchain technology, offering users the benefits without incurring additional costs or requiring technical expertise. More than 20 million GoDaddy users will now have access to the ENS blockchain infrastructure by linking DNS with ENS.

ENS, widely adopted as a naming protocol in the crypto space, allows users to associate human-readable names, such as "bob.eth," with intricate Ethereum addresses, resembling the functionality of DNS in website URLs.

Nick Johnson, the founder of ENS, expressed, "By pairing up ENS names and GoDaddy domains, we will streamline the way users interact with web domains, blending the familiarity of DNS with the potential of blockchain technology."

This collaboration addresses previous barriers, including high gas fees, by introducing new smart contracts for cost-free DNS to ENS domain linking, enhancing the transition process. ENS is actively working to integrate with the traditional web, with ongoing efforts such as the inclusion of (.box) domains that function similarly to standard internet domains.
