Coinbase's CEO, Brian Armstrong, suggested that if regulatory uncertainty in the cryptocurrency industry persists, the exchange may consider moving away from the United States. Armstrong emphasized the importance of regulatory clarity for the market to thrive, stating that the US lacks such clarity currently.
He also mentioned the possibility of investing more in other parts of the world if necessary. During Fintech Week in London, Armstrong cited the UK's advantage of having a single regulator, the FCA, overseeing both commodities and securities, whereas in the US, separate bodies such as the CFTC and the SEC can create conflicting regulations. Armstrong expressed the need for a clear rulebook to operate efficiently as a business.

In a tweet on Monday, Armstrong praised the UK's efforts to introduce reasonable cryptocurrency regulations, stating that he is eager to continue investing in the country. However, he expressed concern about British banks adopting a more stringent stance towards clients transferring funds to cryptocurrency exchanges to prevent fraudulent activities. One such bank is NatWest, a leading UK lender, which introduced fresh restrictions in March on customer transfers to crypto exchanges to safeguard them from what it referred to as "crypto-criminals."
