Coinbase to Launch Solana and Hedera Futures on February 18 Amid Growing Institutional Interest

Coinbase plans to introduce Solana and Hedera futures on February 18, with contracts settling in cash on a monthly basis, according to a recent filing. The Solana futures will have a contract size of 100 SOL, currently valued at approximately $24,000, alongside smaller “nano” contracts of five SOL. Hedera futures will be offered in contracts of 5,000 tokens.

The move follows increased momentum in crypto product launches after the inauguration of President Donald Trump, who is seen as crypto-friendly. Last week, futures and options exchange CME mistakenly published a futures page for XRP and Solana on its staging subdomain, fueling speculation about potential listings. CME later clarified that the post was an error and that no decision had been made regarding the launch of SOL or XRP futures.
